Our goal is to have a full house of quilts, and we need your help. As this flyer says, quilts can be almost any size, kind, or age. Quilts can be entered for judging (and who doesn't love a winning ribbon?) or just for display. Quilts are happiest when people are standing in front of them saying "Ohhh, ahhhh!"
Click on the Applications tab above to download the application. This year you may complete the form online and then print it, if you wish. Or print the form to complete in the traditional pen way. We hope to see your beautiful quilts in May!
If you need a hotel or RV site, click on the Hotel Information tab at the top of the page. There you will find a list of local hotels offering special rates for the show. Make sure to read the information carefully so your reservation will qualify.
All year members of the Red River Valley Quilt Guild make quilts to donate to local groups such as CASA and Quilts of Valor. This year we have a special quilt that will be raffled during the quilt show. The proceeds will be donated to the local Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) to support their work.
Established in 1999, the CAC has served over 3300 victims of child abuse, an average of 175 each year. The CAC teams with other agencies in Lamar and Red River Counties, agencies such as law enforcement, Texas Department of Family & Protective Services, District Attorney’s Offices, the Paris Counseling Professionals of NE Texas, and others in order to promote CAC's Mission.
"To promote hope, healing and justice to child victims of crime in Lamar and Red River Counties."
Tickets will be for sale soon. $5 each or 6 for $20.00.
This quilt's story:
Once upon a time, an unknown dedicated quilter spent hours and hours cutting small hexagons and hand stitching them together to make a beautiful quilt top of the pattern called Grandmother’s Flower Garden. We don’t know who that person was or how long ago it was made. We only know it was never quilted. The quilt top was given away and eventually made its way to us. The quilt has now been professionally machine quilted and finished by volunteers from the RRVQG.
In addition to the quilt whose proceeds will benefit the local Children's Advocacy Center, our Red River Valley Quilt Guild also received two more old quilts. These are vintage quilts whose ages and makers are unknown, but the dedication in making them shines through.
The star quilt on the left is hand pieced and hand quilted. The maple leaf quilt on the right was machine pieced, donated unquilted, and has since been machine quilted by guild member Karen Denny.
Tickets are $5.00 each or six tickets for $20.00 and are on sale at Sew Always. Proceeds will go to the RRVQG to help fund guild activities.
When you buy tickets, each of these 2 quilts has its own ticket jar. Drop your tickets into the jar of the quilt you wish to win! If you have questions about these 2 quilts, contact Kariena Brosten at 360-961-4665.
The winner of each will take home a "piece" of quilting history!
